Our Scoping Program is a total of 560 clock hours, which takes roughly 7 months to complete. The main focus of a scopist is to edit what a reporter will write on a steno machine, clean up the reporter’s notes and finalize the transcript.
The first few weeks consists of learning to read steno and the Computer Based Training on the software that court reporters use. The majority of the training is spent learning to read and understand the steno language. After completion of the theory portion, files will be provided which contain practice transcripts for editng. The student will then learn to produce transcripts in a timely fashion by continuous use of the software as well as constant review of the CBT program. |
